They don't realize.
--yes, I made more money in my previous career. But we have enough.
--are you this rude to everyone? Last time I checked, we all barter money for the goods and services we provide.
--school shootings break my hearts, but are fairly rare.
--please show your kids how to use them appropriately when you use your phone. And don't text them during class.
--freaks exist everywhere. I wish they didn't.

I was thinking about this yesterday because I ran into a parent who gives me too much credit for his son's success during high school and the two years since. A lot of people wrote this kids off; quite honestly, he made me crazy when I first met him. But what I always tell students when they ask why I teach--it's because I get to see them be amazing.
