Oh, the best laid plans of mice and men.
I had another entry for today, carefully crafted in Word and ready to post on the Day 20 draft page I carefully set up at the beginning of the week because I knew this week would be crazy. Two track scrimmages and a parent night at school do not make for a relaxed end of the week. So I prepared ahead of time. But my preparation didn't go far enough. See, at the student art display, I got caught up in visiting with three students and asking about the pieces they were showing and their plans for next year. Our department meeting for tomorrow had to be revamped, so I found myself previewing to a TEDTalk at 9:30. Then, I realized I needed copies for another teacher tomorrow and waiting for morning would be too stressful. At 11:20, when I went to post, the network refused to allow it to happen. So I went to the parking lot and tried from there, and the wifi just wouldn't work. I drove down the road to the parking g lot of a bar, and attempted to post from there, which probably looked way more questionable than my behavior really was. At 11:58, I knew it was going to happen, that my post would not make it in time.

So I have a choice to make. Do I allow the fact that I can't win a prize anymore define me as a writer? Or do I continue with this challenge and my quest to continue to be a writer in spite of this setback? I've allowed much less to interfere before.
However, now that I'm posting from the safety of my sofa, using my reliable home wireless, I feel like the challenge is still ahead of me, and worth fighting to achieve.
Best of luck to all who manage this better than I did.
