I read the inspiration post, and it reminded me of the song, "I Love a Rainy Night," that my mother and younger sister used to call "The Windshield Wiper Song." My mom was big on music and dancing throughout the day.
Some other songs that hold places in my memory:
"You Are My Sunshine" (Stevie Wonder)--coupled with several others, this was part of our bedroom routines growing up.
"What a Wonderful World" (Louis Armstrong)--this song has been important several times in my life, but was played frequently during my junior and senior years of high school.
"Bridge Over Troubled Water" (Simon and Garfunkle)--slow dancing the first time I fell in love
"Lovesong" (The Cure)--the first time I knew I was in love with the wrong person
"Unforgettable" (Natalie and Nat King Cole)--dancing with my father at my wedding
"Grow Old Along With Me"--(Mary Chapin Carpenter/written by John Lennon)--our wedding song
"Back Where I Come From"--(Kenny Chesney)--class song my first year of teaching
"Hanging By a Moment"--(Lifehouse)--The band was playing on campus one night as I was heading to class, and it was a moment when I felt I was right where I was supposed to be.
"Bizarre Love Triangle"--(New Order)--The time between college and work, stringing together as many jobs as I could find before decide what came next
Seven Nation Army--(White Stripes)--Buckeye
